Go Diggers!

What a fun day back at Sugar-Salem. Ashlyn got asked to be the little Homecoming escort for Sugar last Friday. So I spent all day thursday making her dress and was very pleased the way it turned out. Ashlyn loved it and couldn't wait to wear it. Ashlyn is a little bit shy and I got her pumped up all week so she would not get nervous. So Friday comes and it's time to practice...and she didn't go out. Her reply "I don't want to, I'm very shy." So my sister Candice and I bribed her with EVERYTHING! So when it's all said and done she gets a new purse, gum, lunch and her nails done. She really knows how to work it. Then the big thing was that she didn't want to hold the guys hand. what?! We finally talked her into holding their thumb. So after all the bribing, she finally did it. (This is just the practice) So all the students start coming in and I can tell she getting a little nervous. So it's time for them to announce the escorts and she won't walk out....without me. So low and behold I have to walk out with her and hold her hand. That is the one and only time I'll ever be in a spotlight. I go and sit down and my sister has to talk her into doing it again. But she does it and she does awesome! and she actually holds their hand. When it was over she whispers to me "Don't tell Hailee and Paige I held a boys hand" :) We stayed for the parade and the homecoming game. Brought back lots of memories of being in high school. One thing that was interesting is it's Sugars 100 graduating class this year and they had some of the graduating class of 1959 there and they sang the Sugar-Salem song. They announced the song to the students that this was a very old song and that none of them probably are going to know it and that it hasn't been sung for a very very long time. Well, it was the song that was sung at my graduation! Made me feel ancient.
