Our Private Investigator

My dear Paige has always been the "brains". Don't ask me how I created a smart child. She gets all her smartness from her dad. So the other day, she lost a tooth and put it under her pillow. She was very upset the next morning to find that the toothfairy had not visited her, nor did she visit the next night or the next night. Whats up with that toothfairy? The toothfairy finally remember last night to take the tooth and leave money. As I was cooking breakfast this morning here is our conversation:

Paige: Mom, who really left this money. (as she holds up the dollar)
Mom: Um, probably the toothfairy. Why?
Paige: No, mom tell me the truth.
Mom: Um, the toothfairy.
Paige: I don't think so mom, because this dollar has a green highlighted mark on the right hand corner and I was looking on your dresser yesterday and you had a dollar that had a green highlighted mark on the right hand corner.
Mom thinking: Oh, shoot!

She is so observant! She would be awesome at being a private investigator. She notices the most bizaare things.

So Ashlyn has started Kindergarden and did awesome the first couple days. Well, after two days. She started to cry every time she got on the bus. So I had to take her the first two weeks. The teacher called one night and said that Ashlyn was having this crying problem and she tells the teacher she is sick and needs to lay down. Well, when recess comes, she pops right up and goes out to play. That little stinker. So I told Ashlyn that every day she doesn't cry, she can put a lions head sticker on her chart and once the lion is dressed and has a face we will go to lunch. She just earned her first lunch date with mom. She hasn't cried since, but has informed me that she will need to continue to go to lunch with mom so she doesn't cry. She really knows how to work it. It is hard to beleive that my little girl is starting school and it is kind of sad to see her get on the bus. Here she is on her first day of school.

What a great motivation to get her to stop crying! You are so good at making hard situations positive for your kids. I love that the tooth fairy is so busted! :) How do you answer that one? :)

LOL!! I love it! That is too fun, how did you answer that one? The sticker/lunch idea is a great one. I will be trying that with Aliya, and calling you for "girl advice." Your girls crack me up and Aliya is well on her way too out smarting me. I will let you figure it all out and then give me all the answers!

I found your blog off of tues tell all, I hope you don't mind me looking. You have an adorable family and are so talented! I noticed a bit ago you mentioned being in charge of your wards Super Sat. I too am in charge of ours and am looking for a few more projects, I wondered if you would be willing to share what you are doing? I am a little slow getting things finalized for our ward because of a hospital stay last week with complications with a gallbladder surgery :( but I am doing great now, and have to get busy again!
If you want you can email me at jrlnield@silverstar.com

Thanks, Lyndi in Wyoming
