More Family Fun

I wanted to spend time as a family on Friday. We gave the kids a choice to either go to a movie or go ice skating. The kids and Brad have never been ice skating. I love to ice skate. It brought back great childhood memories. My mom is from Nova Scotia and ice skating is BIG there. Whenever we would go visit in the winter we would ice skate. We always had a place to ice skate in our backyard growing up. I remember I would always go out alone and pretend I was a professional. I had a huge crush on Karl Gehmlich and I would pretend he would watch. That's pretty embarassing and I can't beleive I'm journaling that. Anyway, I was pretty excited when the the kids chose ice skating over a movie. The kids had a blast and want to go back. They caught on quickly and was able to go out in the middle by themselves. Zack was the funniest. Brad would hold him between his legs and Zack's little legs would go back and forth really fast. Everyone was getting a kick out of him. He would scream when we would take him for a rest. Brad and I are both sore for having to bend down with him. I think maybe we'll put him in hockey. Ashlyn wasn't such a fan, but was a good sport to give it a try.

On Saturday we wanted to take the kids sledding. There was a freezing wind in I.F. so we decided not to go. My mom called and wanted us to go to Rexburg. She said there was no wind and she would make chili. How could we refuse that? The sledding was perfect. No wind at all in Rexburg. The kids had so much fun. It was perfect. After sledding we went back to my parent's house and had hot chocolate and then we had Chili over scones. There's a name for that, but I can't remember. It was so good.

Brian and Lesa went with us.

I love the family time we've spent together. We totally needed that bonding experience. Hopefully I'm helping them create childhood memories.

Uuummmm. . .I'm thinking that YOUR kids childhood memories will be a little more colorful than my kids, at least for this weekend. I was beginning to worry that their butts were going to adhere (sp?) to the carpet in front of the PlayStation! :)
You're wonderful! I love that you are always trying so hard to make your children's lives better. You are such a great example (once the video games loose their newness, we'll get back to the land of the living!). :)

Sounds like so much fun Karri!! Did you ice skate at the rink by the zoo? Living here we've got to learn to enjoy winter activities. You have such a cute family.
