Time Out for Women

I am so grateful I was able to go to Time out for Women this last weekend. I was so excited when I found out they were coming to Idaho Falls. Me and eight other girlfriends all got tickets and got to enjoy time away from our kids to get spiritually enriched. They had awesome speakers and awesome music. Music seems to always bring the spirit in. Everybody got these awesome bags, which I will be using for church. All three of my favorite hymns were sang: a Poor Wayfaring Man, Come thou Fount of Every Blessing, and If you Could Hie to Kolob. The theme this year is "Joyful Life" and the scripture is
Acts 2:28

"Thou hast made known to me the WAYS OF LIFE, thou shalt make me FULL OF JOY..."

Just what I needed to hear right now. It's funny how it seemed every talk was FOR ME. Jason Wright spoke who is the author of "Wednesdays Letters" and "Christmas Jars". (Which I am now dying to read, has anyone read them?) My favorite talk was Sharon G. Larsen. She talked on points that she has found to help her have a Joyful Heart. I thought I would share her points:

1. Forgiveness
Ask for forgiveness and forgive others

2. Trust in the Lord
He knows what will make us happy even if we don't realize it at the moment.

3. Let go of Competition
Make room in your heart for Joy. Your true friends are those you are not in competition with nor they in competition with you. (this was a BIG eye opener for me)

4. Keep yo9ur covenants
Keep your baptismal and temple covenants, how can you go wrong there.

She was awesome and was so down to my level and said everything I needed to hear.

Mercy River is a new LDS group that performed many songs. They totally brought the spirit in and would be great to listen to Sunday mornings. Here is there link and you can preview their songs. If you ever get a chance to go to TOFW, I strongly suggest it. Its worth it.

Update on Zack's hand: He's been getting wound therapy at the hospital and he saw the plastic surgeon today. He thinks he will probably need a skin graft, but wants to watch it for another week. Poor boy. He is so brave and strong and hardly complains about the pain. He loves his little blue cast. He had a long tiring day today.

I think I've mentioned that I read your blog, even though I don't know you! I was at TOFW in IF too! I loved it! Mercy River was great. I'm such a fan of Jason Wright. He helped announce news of my pregnancy to my mom on stage...crazy! Anyway, I very much enjoyed myself. I hope to go again next year.

Loved your comments! It is true about the competition thing--isn't it weird how even as adults we "Compete" about things? Who has a better house, better things, better way to do things, better etc.etc... I have found that I have to be consciously aware of myself doing this, and stop, and not allow myself to get caught up in it all!

Poor Zack- I hope he gets feeling better soon. I have never been to the TOFW, it sounds like it was very good though.

About the books I finished all 3 in 5 days. I could not put them down, we ordered the books on tape so I could get Bryce to listen to them so I am just waiting for them to come so I can listen to it all over again. I know I'm pretty pathetic! They are just so good though. I wish book 4 was coming out sooner, but ya we need to talk about it. I am going to Idaho (my moms) for our spring break. We get 2 weeks out of school so I will be there the last week of March & first week of April, we should get together for lunch or something.

I love TOFW. I went last year and loved it so much. They aren't doing it in Boise this year though. But we have Time Out for Couples coming. So we will go to that instead. Glad you had a good time, and that Zack is feeling better, poor little guy!

I'm so jealous you got to go to TOFW. I really wanted to go! Thank you for your quotes, it's so nice to go have a time out and be spiritually rejuvenated. I hope Zack is alright! I can't believe he has to have skin grafts. Poor little guy!!!

how cool! I didn't know about this and I was out of town so I wouldn't have been able to go. But, what a neat thing...wish I could have done that!!!
